Miss Rodeo Nebraska

Joni Qualm
“Leave Your Legacy”
I am Joni Qualm the 22-year-old daughter of Joel and Jane Qualm. I come from a large family of five girls in Ericson, Nebraska. Jayna her husband Ky Iwanski and their two daughters Paisley and Macee, Jessie and husband Brent Swick, Jenita, and Jentry. So you could say the girls slightly out number my dad, but we think he’s pretty lucky.
Growing up on one of the largest Quarter Horse Ranches in the nation, Pitzer Ranch, I guess I never really had an opportunity NOT to be a cowgirl. With Howard Pitzer as my Great Grandpa and John Qualm of Platte, South Dakota also being my Great-Great Grandfather, the two go hand and hand. Grandpa John was the first man to bring Angus cattle to the Dakota Territory from Scotland. They always said, “Horses are a way of life, and the cattle are what pay for the horses.” With honesty, I can say I have ridden more miles on the back of a horse than I have walked on my feet. I have been involved in rodeo my entire life, and I am an active member of the American Quarter Horse Association (AQHA).
